DBA - Feedback

DBA - Feedback & Development

Today we had a workshop with DBA the designers who set the brief , we showed our ideas and received feedback. The DBA designers suggested our idea slightly to old and that we should of been focussing for a more innovative and fresher concept. The idea we had produced tended to be more historical and make our theme feel to historical and old.

Branching off i decided to reflect back to some of the research i had , i really like the thought of a strong minimal geometric theme/ that would make the whole branding be more contemporary and reflect the capital north as a forward thinking and strong unity brand.

I decided i would look at the Map to see the direction of the cities and draw lines across to create a small pattern.

Discussing with Sam and Beth we decided to we try and focus on things that are work together as a set to make something happen. Focussing with lines and geometry we looked at circuit boards and periodic table.

Hull- Hydrogen
Manchester- Manganese
Liverpool-Lithium
Leeds--

Although we struggled to find a atom for Leeds we felt the conceptual idea behind things which make up something else still works and atoms would present it well.

Beth mocked up an example we felt it had more of a minimal and modernised feel.

Feedback -

After the second part of the day we received some more feedback on our development.

We took down some notes-

Agricultural
Industrial
Information revolution

Circular theme
Themes turn

Science – Chemistry – train connections

Use colours for links

Construction site

Circles change to square

Look at connectivity

Connection of brain

Vitality

Think about symbols

Don’t specifically illustrate everything

Not enough choice to choose from

Good at seeing potential, good eye graphically but need to be more creative

Look in to connectivity and chain reactions

Central idea, more than one thing and each drives the other

Interlocking circles

Something driving another thing

The main feedback we took from our discussion with DBA designers is that modernising our concept of cogs with a more modernised take will make our work stronger and make our idea more current. I am really pleased with the development from the workshop and our next step is to work with the circular theme and develop it until we find the best resolution to the problem.
